POETRY CONTEST

About Us

Bloodroot Literary Magazine is a nonprofit publication released each December. Our mission is to provide a journal of high production values and quality material by established and emerging authors.

The 2009 issue of Bloodroot features cover art by Christy Hale and poems, short stories and creative nonfiction by 28 outstanding authors

The endless search for "le mot juste" holds each writer under its spell. It requires patience and vision on the part of the author to see and say what others tend not to be able to articulate. The focus then becomes a way to share in what Harold Bloom contends: "that the best writings impress us with the conviction that one nature writes and the same reads." The author and the reader ultimately unite in a secular transcendence. The same holds true in the editor's search for the exact verse and prose to publish.

"We strive to live up to our commitment to inspire and engage our readers and we believe you will share in that unique experience-the oneness of writer and reader."

The Editors - "Do" Roberts, Editor; Deloris Netzband, Associate Editor; Kirk Glaser, Advisory Editor; Caroline Thomson, Copy Editor
