POETRY CONTEST

Rod Farmer
    Prophesy

All is a procession,
The universe is a procession with
measured and perfect motion.

     -Walt Whitman

If you lose your faith
you still have the universe,
and it can take care of itself,
all you have to do is enjoy
exploring whatever small part
of the universe you live in,
drink in a sense of
transcendent wonder.
Each one of you is the hub
of a spinning universe,
we are all in the center,
appreciate your privilege.
Walt Whitman prophesied
future poets he called:
"sacerdotal bards"
and "kosmic savans,"
poets who would speak to
the union of the natural
and the mystical,
poets with a metaphysics,
poets as comfortable with
the soul as with his
"the real real."
I eagerly await these
philosopher poets, Whitman's
"resplendent coming literati."
